The Story
Synopsis
In modern day California an ageing gay man reflects on his tumultuous past in a concentration camp where his survival depends on a reckless kind of ménage à trois which challenges his notion of humanity amidst the horrors of war.
What lengths will you go to survive when the world you knew has been ripped away from you? If you're a young gay man in a concentration camp, what are your options? What is more important — love or survival? Is it possible to achieve both?
'No Goodbyes' stars Luc Clopton, Mel England, Johan Gran and Antoine Perry.

Case Study
Brief · Approach · Outcome
- 01
The Brief
Tell a queer concentration-camp survival story without sanitising the moral cost — and without falling into the familiar grammar of WWII cinema.
- 02
The Approach
I built the film around a present-day reflection that lets the survivor narrate his own memory. The ménage à trois sits at the centre as the moral engine — neither romanticised nor condemned, just kept in unflinching focus.
- 03
The Outcome
Released 2021. Selected by multiple international festivals including San Francisco Queer Film Festival, San Antonio LGBT Film Festival and Burbank Film Festival.
Themes
- Queer survival

- Moral cost of war
