The Art of the Unwritten Scene
What happens in the silence between lines of dialogue often reveals more than the words themselves.
Every script carries its missing scenes inside it. The moment a character chose not to speak. The conversation that happened off-screen. The version of the story we will never see.
Negative space is not absence. It is a deliberate architecture — what we leave out shapes what remains.
When a writer trusts the audience to fill the silence, the audience becomes a collaborator. That is when a scene begins to live beyond the page.
